UIDAI( unique identification authority of India ) has taken a new step to secure adhar data by introducing 16-digit random ID called as virtual ID.This step is taken prior to the latest unverified data breach incidents covered by journalists. How will VID work? >> This is two-tier security mechanism. >> It is 16-digit random number mapped with Adhar number. >> There can only be one active and valid VID at any time. >> Noone can derive adhar number from VID number. >> only adhar holder can generate VID. >> It is temporary hence agencies will not use it for de-duplication.
